11.13.20 - Competition Game Night 08 OUR FINAL SOCCER GAMES
Hello Play As One Family,
The Lord gave us some rain this weekend! WooHoo!!! We were a little worried about last Friday night games but the heavy drizzle didn't arrive until the last game. And then, as you all know, it rained (sometimes even hail fell) on Saturday and Sunday. Thank you, Lord!
This Friday will be our last competition night. Thank you so much for being a part of our ministry and we hope you will join us next year as we play, God-willing, traditional soccer.
This past week, our friend, Todd Willer, shared that many (if not most) people are obsessed with certain hobbies or things in their lives. It’s not necessarily bad things; however, we can get too distracted by them if we let them. He challenged us to focus on Christ more than the things of this world. It was a great reminder for all of us. The question he closed with was how can we grow our love for Christ to have an obsession for Him?
Francis Chan spoke of the early church, described in the Book of Acts, of how all Christ-followers gave everything to each other. They saw what Christ had done. There was no doubt in their hearts that Christ is God and that there is much more to life than things or possessions.
I find it a bit curious that on one of the nights Todd spoke God displayed a phenomenal sunset in our sky. It only lasted for a moment. The sky was full of waves of pink and purple clouds and then it was gone. Why is this important to my point?
I worry about so many things. I care too much about the “small” things. So when I see a sky that is lit up brilliantly for miles and miles why can’t I trust the God who created such beauty? That is our God! He is in control. I need to not be anxious and simply be obsessed with living for Him. We can show God’s love to others by realizing what we “have” is really not ours. Don’t get me wrong… God wants us to be good stewards of things He has blessed us with, but I believe we can all look for ways to share with others as we share His love. We need to let the Lord have everything.
Paul reminds us not to worry in Philippians 4:6
6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Our Lord will always take care of us.
