Hello Play As One Family,
Have you cooled down from the heat? I don't know about you but it doesn't seem like Fall yet, but I know it is. NFL football games are happening and my favorite, baseball playoffs (GO PADRES!!!) I wanted to commend our players and coaches for enduring the heat this past week. Thank you also for all the hard work and effort our players are displaying as we played our second week of games. I've been seeing our players really starting to grasp this COVID-19 soccer style. Way to go kids!!!
This week I wanted to share with you something that I pondered about my wife's family. Several weeks ago, my wife, Sara, lost her grandfather (her dad's father). Curtis Pearsey was a man of God who left a legacy with 4 boys, 17 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. A World War 2 vet who served in the South Pacific on the USS New Orleans, he lived 95 years loving Jesus. His legacy is evident by his offspring. Along with his loving wife for more than 60 years, all four of his boys serve the Lord. Most of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren are also living for the Lord. He loved Jesus and everyone knew it by his actions.
Today happens to be my wife's other grandfather's birthday (mom's father). Today, Marvin Epp is 92! He too is currently living a long life for Christ. Along with his wife, they have 3 daughters, 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. A hard-working man who places the Lord always first in his life. Legacy is the life he lives as an example of how to love God. Both men love God and it shows through the legacy they leave behind.
I wanted to encourage you all for keeping that tradition. Proverbs 22:6 states, "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. " We are leaving a legacy to those around us. Not just our own children, but to those around us. We have a chance to continue to make a positive impact for the Lord for the families we meet out on the field. Thank you for being a part of this Play As One season.
Parents, when you arrive 15 minutes early to your scheduled game time, please find a social distance "luxury box" for you and your family to view the game. We just want to do our best to maintain a safe distance from one another. Thank you for your cooperation. Below are the game times for every competition night.
